Women's Cross Country runs at John McKenzie Invitational
FT. WORTH, Texas - The Wiley University women's cross country team completed its opening meet of the 2024 season at Texas Christian University's John McKenzie Invitational Saturday at AP Ranch.
The Lady Wildcats competed against mostly NCAA Division I schools. Texas Wesleyan University and Odessa College were the only non-NCAA institutions. The five-kilometer course was grass and dirt.
Jean-Marie Farinha led the Lady Wildcats at 29:59.01. Kyla Deyon (33:46.02) and LaDaija Thomas (34:24.53) followed.
"We were shorthanded today," head coach Christopher McConnell said. "We'll look to build on this and use it to prepare for the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Championship."
Wiley will return to the course on September 7 at the University of Texas at Tyler's Season Opener.
