Garcia earns NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete
Wiley University women's soccer player Irma Garcia was recognized for her academic performance by earning National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.
Garcia was one of 6,486 student-athletes to earn the honor by holding a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. As a sophomore business major, Garcia held a 3.81 GPA after her freshman season. This is the second time she's been honored for her academic performance. She earned the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Elite 9 Academic Award presented by Bloosky for holding the highest grade-point average in the conference.
Wiley University sponsors 13 varsity sports, women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's outdoor track and field, softball and baseball. It competes in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC).
