Women's Soccer ends regular season against Talladega
The Wiley University women's soccer team will finish the regular season against Talladega College in a Continental Athletic Conference match at 1 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Park in Flowood, Miss.
The match will be Wiley's first since playing at Arlington Baptist University on September 27. It hopes to end the season on a three-match unbeaten streak after tying Centenary College of Louisiana on September 25 and beating Arlington Baptist on September 27.
This will be the second match for the Lady Wildcats against the CAC. They defeated Tougaloo College 18-1 on September 8. They look to be one of the six teams competing in the CAC Tournament from November 9-13 at Georgia Gwinnett College's Grizzly Soccer Complex in Lawrenceville, Ga.
Yajaira Hernandez has scored two goals in the last two matches. Nadia Hernandez, Deyanara Hernandez and Alexse Orozco scored in the victory over Arlington Baptist. Destiny Allison made eight saves in the recent two contests.
Talladega (3-6, 1-1) is on a four-match losing streak. Its CAC victory was against Oakwood University on September 15. The Tornadoes have been shut out in three of their last four matches. It trailed 4-0 in its match against Thomas on October 22 but outscored it 4-1 the remainder of the match. Cycoiah Whatley scored two goals to give her seven for the season. Annalisa Vincent tallied her team-leading 11th goal and Gabrielle Bryan scored her first goal of the season. Natalie Need made 19 saves in her last three matches.
Saturday will mark the first time the Lady Wildcats and Tornadoes have met on the soccer pitch.
