Women's Basketball annihilates College of Biblical Studies
Four Wiley University women's basketball players scored in double figures and three grabbed double-digit rebounds in a 101-41 landslide victory over the College of Biblical Studies in a non-conference game Thursday at Alumni Gymnasium.
All nine Lady Wildcats scored, led by Tamia Dolls' career-high 31 points. She made 10 shots with six from beyond the arc, also career bests. Mary Leday followed with a career-high 20 points, marking the first time Wiley had two players with 20 or more since January 6, 2024. She added nine rebounds, a game-high five assists and three steals. Erin Love notched her first double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Kewaysha Alsup tallied 11 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists. This is the first time the Lady Wildcats have scored in triple digits since November 5, 2016. Wiley hit 11 three-pointers which tied the program record, previously hitting that mark on December 12, 2019.
Mya Jones recorded double-digit rebounds for the second straight game with 11. Additionally, she provided six points, five steals, four assists and a blocked shot. Jessica Nerestant provided her eighth double-digit rebounding game with 11, in addition to three assists and two steals. Celebria Peacock led the team with six steals while contributing nine points, four assists and a blocked shot.
Wiley (8-10, 5-6 HBCUAC) outshot College of Biblical Studies 40.7 to 22.2 percent. It dominated the glass with 59 rebounds to 37 for the Ambassadors. The Lady Wildcats forced 34 turnovers with 25 off steals, leading to 48 points.
Tamia Dolls hit two 3-pointers to give the Lady Wildcats a 16-4 lead with three minutes left in the first. They held the Ambassadors to two field goals on 13 attempts and forced eight turnovers with six steals. Wiley held them scoreless for over five minutes, taking a 30-5 lead after the first quarter.
The Lady Wildcats didn't allow the College of Biblical Studies to reach double digits until 5:09 in the second quarter. They hit 10 shots, with Leday and Dolls hitting three, increasing their lead to 57-18 at halftime.
The homestand continues Saturday with a Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference game against the University of the Virgin Islands at 1 p.m.
