The Wildcats competed against mostly NCAA Division I schools. Texas Wesleyan University and Odessa College were the only non-NCAA institutions that ran. The five-kilometer course was grass and dirt.
The HBCU Athletic Conference Preseason Runner of the Year Javoun Goldsby led the team at 18:38.21. Returner All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference runner Jaylon Donson followed at 20:52.81. Ameariun Harper (22:03.70), Jaden Cole (22:31.22) and Channing Arvie (23:33.26) completed Wiley's finishers.
"This was a decent starting point," head coach Christopher McConnell said. We'll look to improve and prepare for the HBCUAC Championship."
Wiley will return to the course on September 7 at the University of Texas at Tyler's Season Opener.
