Men's and Women's Cross Country releases 2024 Schedule

The Wiley University men's and women's cross country teams will run in seven meets as they announced their 2024 schedule on Monday.

The season opens on August 31 at the John McKenzie Invitational, hosted by Texas Christian University. This will be the first time the Wildcats have run in the meet. On September 7, they will participate in the University of Texas at Tyler's Season Opener. This will be the first time Wiley has competed at UT-Tyler since 2017. It will compete in Southwestern University's Showdown on September 14. On September 28, the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats will run at Oklahoma State University's Cowboy Jamboree.

They will compete at Marshall City Arena for East Texas Baptist University's Tiger Invitational on October 5. On October 11, Wiley will compete in Ouachita Baptist University's Tiger Invitational. The 2024 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Championship will be at the Oakville Indian Mounds Cross Country Course in Danville, Ala.

"This is a solid schedule," said head coach Chris McConnell, who is entering his first season. "Each meet has an element that will help prepare us for the HBCUAC Championship, not only the competition but the course."

If Wiley wins its first conference title since 2014, it will advance to the 69th NAIA Cross Country National Championship on November 22 in Columbia, Mo.

The Wildcats are coming off a runner-up finish. They are expected to return nearly their entire roster, led by Javoun Goldsby, who finished runner-up at the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship. The Lady Wildcats finished fourth at last season's GCAC Championship. Nearly the entire roster is expected to return - including juniors Jean-Marie Farinha and Meeyesha Tutt-Moutouo.
