Garrett runs for 110-meter hurdles Individual National Title
Wiley University track and field athlete Ronald Garrett Jr. hopes to finish his sophomore season with an individual national title, as he competes in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2025 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 73rd Annual Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.
Garrett qualified with a season-best 14.45 at Southern Arkansas University's Dan Veach Invitational on April 19. This is the second straight season he has qualified, but it will be his first competing. He is scheduled to run in the second heat of a three-heat preliminary race at 1:15 p.m. Thursday. The top two runners in each heat and the next three best times will advance to Friday's final at 1:30 p.m. The top eight finishers will earn NAIA All-American honors. Zach Turner from Doane College holds the NAIA's fastest time at 13.52. Giandre Lee from Madonna University has the eighth fastest time at 14.16.
The sophomore from Jefferson, Texas, is looking to be the Wildcats' first NAIA All-American since 2018, when they won the national title with seven All-Americans. Garrett is the third Wildcat to qualify in the 110-meter hurdles. LaFranz Campebell won the individual national title in 2018. Jason Thompson qualified in the event in 2004.
