
Garrett wins HBCUAC Track Athlete of the Week
After posting the top time in the 110-meter hurdles in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Wiley University men's track and field athlete Ronald Garrett earns Historically Black Colleges and Universities Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Garrett ran 14.64 at the Chick-fil-A Harding Invitational, topping all athletes affiliated with an institution, including some from National Collegiate Athletic Association programs. His time was 0.14 seconds from the 'B' national championship qualifying standard. Garrett finished third in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.16, within a second of the 'B' qualifying standard. As a freshman last season, Garrett was a NAIA National Championship qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles and earned All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.
The Wildcats will compete in the McNeese State University Cowboys Relays Bob Hayes Challenge on Saturday.
