
Garrett wins 110-meter hurdles
SEARCY, Ark. - The Wiley University men's track and field team commenced its 2025 outdoor season at the Chick-fil-A Harding Invitational, held at Harding University's Ted Lloyd Track on Saturday.
The Wildcats ran against schools from both the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Ronald Garrett, who was a NAIA National Championship qualifier last season, delivered impressive performances winning the 110-meter hurdles and a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash. His time of 14.64 in the 110-meter hurdles was 0.14 seconds shy of the 'B' national championship qualifying standard and leads the NAIA. He was within a second of qualifying in the 200-meter dash.
Xavier Hutchinson finished third in the high jump (1.77 meters) and sixth in the long jump (6.16 meters). Dantravian Bundred-Sloan finished fourth in the high jump (1.77 meters).
The Wildcats will head to Lake Charles, La. for the McNeese State University's Cowboy Relays 'Bob Hayes Challenge' on March 15.
Hutchinson selected to Preseason All-HBCUAC Team
Wiley University men's track and field athlete Xavier Hutchinson was one of five athletes named to the 2025 Preseason All-Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Team.
Hutchinson repeated as the conference champion in the javelin last season. He also delivered an All-Conference performance in the triple jump. He has a personal best of 49.60 meters in the javelin and 13.20 meters in the triple jump.
