Men's Soccer downs Arlington Baptist for Benitez's first career win
Wiley University men's soccer player Aaron Castillo contributed to four goals to lift the Wildcats to a 5-1 victory over Arlington Baptist University Friday at Pemberton Field.
The victory is head coach Andrew Benitez-Piraino's first as a college head coach. Castillo scored his first career goal in the second half and assisted on three. Stephen Gaskin scored his second goal of the season. Rintaro Sakai and Jayce Graves tallied their first career goals. The Wildcats outshot Arlington Baptist 11-2. They also had more corner kicks with four to the Patriots' two. Anthony Ulloa, Graves and Gaskin each had two shots.
Graves gave Wiley the lead in the 13th minute scoring off a pass from Castillo. Habimana Janvier scored his first goal of the season on a pass by Castillo in the 26th minute. Arlington Baptist trimmed the margin with a goal in the 34th minute.
In the second half, Castillo set up Gaskin's goal and scored in the 67th minute to increase the margin to three. Sakai scored in the 86th minute. Melvin Bonilla picks up his first career win.
The Wildcats will play their final home match against Tougaloo College at 3 p.m. Sunday. Seniors Takumi Ota, Marcus Momolu and Anfernee Bascombe will be honored.
