Bonilla wins CAC Defensive Player of the Week
After doing what he could to allow the Wiley University men's soccer team an opportunity to beat Texas Wesleyan University on August 26, goalkeeper Melvin Bonilla earns Continental Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for August 26-September 1.
Bonilla made four saves which helped keep the Wildcats close against the Rams. He is tied for second in the CAC in saves with 12 after three matches. Bonilla is Wiley's first Defensive Player of the Week since 2018 when Fernando Garcia won the award. This is Bonilla's first season with the Wildcats after transferring from Murray State College where he won eight matches and made 25 saves in three seasons.
The Wildcats host Arlington Baptist University at 4 p.m. Thursday and Tougaloo College at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
