Men's Soccer visits defending SCAC champion St. Thomas-Houston

The Wiley College men's soccer will travel to Houston to take on the defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion the University of St. Thomas-Houston at 6 p.m. Friday at Sabercats Stadium.

The Wildcats take the field for the first time since wrapping up its homestand with a 4-1 loss to Texas Wesleyan University on September 18. They struck first in the second minute with Juan Cedillo kicking in a corner kick. Santos Perez stopped 13 of the 17 shots he faced.

The Celts (6-0-1) are on a two-game winning streak, outscoring its opponents 11-0. Taty Aleman leads the team with nine goals. He also has team highs with three assists, 31 shots and 18 shots on goal. Daniel Castro follows with five goals and three assists. Cristo Gayoso has stopped 21 of 24 shots he faced.

The Wildcats and Celts competed against each other in the Red River Athletic Conference from 2011 to 2018. Wiley College's only victory came in the 2015 RRAC Semifinals when they edged St. Thomas-Houston – which was the top seed - 4-3 in penalty kicks after playing 110 scoreless minutes.
