Men's Basketball wraps homestand against Arkansas Baptist

The Wiley University men's basketball team will rematch against Arkansas Baptist College in the final game of its opening homestand at 7 p.m. Thursday inside Alumni Gymnasium.

The game will be broadcast on HBCU+ Channel 115, which can be viewed online or by downloading the app to a phone, tablet or Smart TV. Live statistics will also be available. The links can be found in the men's basketball schedule on wileyathletics.com.

The Wildcats (2-2) are coming off a 79-65 victory over Texas College on Tuesday. They held the Steers to a 37.5 field goal percentage, including 23.8 percent from 3-point territory. Wiley hit 46.4 percent of its shots and 31.3 percent from 3-point range. Both teams grabbed 43 rebounds and committed 12 turnovers. The Wildcats outscored the Steers 20-14 in points off turnovers. Their reserves produced more, outscoring Texas College's bench 31-21.

Delor Johnson led the Wildcats with 20 points for his third game scoring 20 or more. He added five rebounds, two steals and two blocks. He was one of five Wildcats that scored in double figures. Devon Barshow added 14 points off the bench while also contributing seven rebounds. Shamir Mosley tallied 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Demarius Pitts scored 11. Chukwuemeke Nwaoshai notched 10 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double with nine.

Wiley fell to Arkansas Baptist 69-61 in its season opener on October 28. It was slightly outshot 41.9 to 40.7 percent. The Buffaloes outdid the Wildcats from 3-point range, hitting eight of 17 attempts to Wiley's five of 18.

Since that game, the Buffaloes beat Philander Smith University 93-89 on October 31 and fell 92-64 against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Saturday. Nate Braden leads the Buffaloes with 22 points per game. Jabez Sims follows with 12.3. Makhai Hasley leads in rebounds with 7.7 per game.

Thursday's game will be the 18th meeting between the Wildcats and Buffaloes with the earliest recorded meeting occurring in 1967-68. Wiley trails 9-8 after falling on October 28.
