
Johnson, Pitts claim GCAC Weekly Honors
After leading the Wiley University men's basketball team in scoring in three games, Delor Johnson wins Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Demarius Pitts takes home Newcomer of the Week.
Johnson helped the Wildcats come from behind against Jarvis Christian University with 36 points, shooting 14-for-19 from the field. He made three key shots and got a steal to help Wiley overcome an eight point deficit. He followed that performance with 28 points against Louisiana Christian. He made 10 field goals including all four 3-point attempts. He hit 59.6 from the field and 62.5 percent from 3-point territory this week.
Pitts, who transferred from Virginia Union Univeristy, had three double-digit scoring performances this week. He scored 11 points against Arkansas Baptist on November 28. He helped the Wildcats to their first victory with 22 points against Jarvis Christian while contributing four rebounds and four assists. He added 12 points, four rebounds and four assists against Louisiana Christian.
The Wildcats continued their homestand against Texas College on Tuesday. They will host Arkansas Baptist College on Thursday before traveling to North American University.
