Wildcats add Mullins
The Wiley College men's basketball team is proud to announce the signing of junior transfer Joshua Mullins (JR/Rocky Mount, N.C.) from Rocky Mount, N.C.
Mullins played at National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I program Grambling State University (La.). He appeared in nine games, averaging 4.3 minutes and 1.8 points per game. He tallied six assists, four rebounds and two steals.
Before Grambling State, Mullins attended Hinds Community College (Miss.) but did not see any action. In high school he played at Nash Central (N.C.) earning District Most Valuable Player, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-State and Team MVP.
"Josh is a scorer, plain and simple," said head coach Derrick Mitchell who is entering his first season with Wiley College. "He has played two years of Division I basketball under two coaches whom I highly respect, so I'm expecting high level basketball when he suits up at Wiley. Josh's best basketball is ahead of him, while that's a scary sight to some, we are very fortunate to have him."
Mullins will look to fill the void created by departing seniors Taylan Grogan, Travious Grubbs, Devlon Noble, Stephen Taylor and Jerrell Doorbal. The Wildcats are coming off a 13-13 season which ended with their 15th consecutive Red River Athletic Conference Tournament berth and third semifinals appearance in the last four seasons.
