Baseball takes on Texas College

The defending regular season conference champion Wiley University baseball team will match up against Texas College for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday at Eagles Nest Park, in Tatum, Texas.

The series was originally scheduled to take place at Woldert Park in Tyler, Texas. However, due to rain earlier in the week, the field became unplayable. The doubleheader on Saturday and the finale on Sunday will both begin at noon. Eagles Nest Park is located off Texas Highway 43. Live statistics will be available for all three games. The links are listed in the baseball schedule on wileyathletics.com.

The Wildcats are searching for their first victory in 2025 after being swept by the University of Houston-Victoria on January 24 and 25. In three games they hit .150 and were held to six runs. Ivan Del Villar recorded two hits. Armand Daigre and Ryan Ready hit their first home runs of the season, driving in three and two, respectively.

On the mound, Wiley allowed 26 runs and struggled with command - walking 20 and hitting five batters. Preseason First Team All-HBCUAC selection Keyon Guillory had the best outing with three scoreless innings and six strikeouts out of the bullpen. Isaac Burciaga held the Jaguars to two runs on three hits in three innings pitched.

This series will be Texas College's opener. It is coming off a 0-30 campaign, marking its third straight winless season. The Steers are on a 90-game losing streak and haven't won since February 29, 2020.

The series will mark the 59th, 60th and 61st meetings against the Steers since 2007. It will be the third straight season they've met since Wiley left the Red River Athletic Conference in 2022. The Wildcats lead the series 35-23 and have won the last six games.
