Reshaun Fridie, Men's Track & Field
Reshaun Fridie had an impressive debut with the Wildcats in 2019. He qualified for the 2019 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Men’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championship with a career-best distance of 7.14 meters in the long jump. He was 0.32 meters from qualifying for nationals in the triple jump with a career mark of 13.98 meters. He won two Red River Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week awards.
Due to the coronavirus, Fridie didn’t have the opportunity to compete in the outdoor track and field season. He competed at two indoor meets. He leaped 5.98 meters in the long jump at the University of Oklahoma J.D. Martin Invitational. He also ran in the 60-meter dash (7.33) and at the McNeese Indoor Invitational, he ran 6.84 in the 55-meter dash.
In high school, Fridie competed at Westgate High School in New Iberia, Louisiana. In his senior season, he qualified for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Indoor Championships in the long jump, triple jump and 4 x 200-meter relay. He finished third in the long jump (21 feet, 4.75 inches), fifth in the triple jump (43 feet, two inches) and fifth in the 4 x 200-meter relay (1:34.39).
