Shayla Arthur, Women's Volleyball

Shayla Arthur recorded eight kills and six blocks with four solo to help the Lady Wildcats defeat Texas A&M University-Texarkana on Saturday. The six blocks equaled her career-high which she also achieved in the season opener against Mid-America Christian University. Arthur is second in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference with 0.84 blocks per set.
In her freshman season, Arthur put down 72 kills and 37 blocks with nine solo. She posted a career-high 11 kills in a five-set victory over Huston-Tillotson University. She had six blocks against Our Lady of the Lake University.
Arthur also competed in track and field and competed at the NAIA National Championship in the 200-meter dash, 4 x 100-meter relay and long jump. She won the Red River Athletic Conference title in the long jump and earned three weekly awards.
Arthur played at Palestine High School where she was a First Team All-District selection in her senior season. She won numerous honors in 2018, including First Team All-District and co-Blocker of the Year. Arthur keeps up the United States of America Track and Field team. She enjoys being on social media and listening to R&B, country and pop.
