Bio

Dr. Darrius Brooks joined the Wiley Athletic Coaching staff in August 2023 as a Character Coach for the men's basketball team. He was appointed as associate athletic director in March 2024. In October 2025, he was named interim director of athletics. Brooks received his Bachelors and Masters at Historically Black College and University Tennessee State University. He earned his doctorate at the University of Florida. Brooks previously worked as Director of Student Support Services at the University of Louisville. All of his students graduated, got accepted into graduate school and posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.

He completed character coach training from the Nation of Coaches, which is an organization that helps men's basketball coaches and players achieve excellence on and off the court. Brooks will help the Wiley University men's basketball players develop holistically in preparation for the next phase of their lives after basketball and help the program engage the community by seeking impactful ways to serve.
